Dr. Shen is a co-producer of “Ingrid Pitt: Beyond the Forest,” an educational animation short featuring animation by her 5th grade son Perry Chen about a young Holocaust survivor, in partnership with twice-Oscar-nominated animator Bill Plympton. The film is slated to complete production in March 2011, and premiere at various film festivals in 2011.

Dr. Shen is active in several non-profit organizations, serving as Vice Chairman and on the Board of Directors of Sino-American Biomedical & Pharmaceutical Professionals Association (SABPA), the most influential life science organization in Southern California that focuses on cross-Pacific alliances. She launched the inaugural SABPA Pacific Forum in 2005 and has served as an organizer and co-chair and helped to make this a flagship conference that draws over 300 attendees and C-level executives from across the Pacific:

Dr. Shen is on the advisory board of American Chinese Culture & Education Foundation (ACCEF) that raises funds to build schools in remote rural areas of China and serves on the board of Asian Art Coordinating Council since 1997.
Dr. Shen received the 2006 Asian Heritage Award. She was nominated for the Athena Pinnacle Award in 2007, 2008, and 2009; and the San Diego Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business Award in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
Dr. Shen earned her Ph.D. in biochemistry from University of Colorado and her MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University. She attended Peking University and Peking Union Medical College. Prior to starting BioForesight, she held positions at The Wilkerson Group/ IBM, Bayer, Chiron, and Immusol with increasing responsibilities in marketing, strategic planning, corporate communications, and business development.
