Tammy Carpowich, Director of Interactive Strategy, KPBSTammy Carpowich

Tammy Charnow Carpowich is director of interactive strategy for KPBS, overseeing a team of smart people who use technology to tell stories, engage with the community and raise money.  As part of her job, she gets to experiment with convergence journalism as the manager of the Jacobs Project for Reporting Excellence.  Tammy started her career at KPBS in 1994 as a student assistant. Since then, she’s held a variety of different jobs from communications to special events to editor of On Air magazine. She has developed Web sites since the late ‘90s, and remembers a time when e-mail was the hot new thing.  As a student at San Diego State University, she studied math, but eventually discovered a passion for writing and earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Moshe Engelberg, Ph.D., President, ResearchWorks

Dr. Moshe Engelberg founded ResearchWorks in 1991 to help companies in the business of health improve their performance through better marketing knowledge, branding, communications, management, and innovation. Moshe has over 19 years of experience working with leading companies around the world, including private sector, government, and nonprofit organizations.  Clients include AARP, CDC, Welch Allyn, Philips, Qualcomm, U.S. Marine Corps, Stanford, and KPBS, as well as the entertainment industry.  He teaches on the side at San Diego State University’s Graduate School of Public Health, and in USD’s Executive Education program, Dr. Engelberg earned his Ph.D. in Communication from Stanford University.

Jay Jones, Managing Editor, KUSI Channel 9

Jay Jones is responsible for leading and managing “Good Morning San Diego” and other KUSI TV shows. He has extensive experience programming, TV News- local and National, and investigative journalism. He helped to launch national, syndicated shows Dr. Phil, Geraldo at Large, and Tyra Banks, and was nominated for an Emmy for the production of Dr. Phil in 2002. Jay is a versatile producer, having worked with reality TV, fashion, politics, news, entertainment, and business community.  He was the executive producer of Fox 5 San Diego.

Zhu Shen, Ph.D., MBA, CEO, BioForesight

Dr. Zhu Shen is an award-winning business leader, author, speaker, PR/media expert, filmmaker, and thought leader in cross-Pacific life science business. She is the CEO of BioForesight, a life science consulting company providing public relations, licensing, outsourcing strategy, cross-cultural communications training to clients globally.  She is Vice Chairman and Board Member of SABPA and on the editorial advisory board of PharmAsia News.

Dr. Shen is the executive producer of “Beyond the Forest,” an educational animation short about a young Jewish girl’s survival during the Holocaust, animated by her 10-year-old son Perry Chen, in partnership with Oscar-nominated animator Bill Plympton. She is also the executive producer of “Perry Previews the Movies” on wsRadio, hosted by Perry Chen.

Jenni Prisk

An award-winning, international motivational speaker, communications coach and trainer, Jenni Prisk founded Prisk Communication in 1990 with a mission to provide comprehensive and outstanding training in public speaking and communication skills.  Jenni works with companies and individuals in diverse aspects of communication.  She received many awards from such organizations as the San Diego Press Club, KPBS, the San Diego Business Journal and more.  She wrote and produced 70+ commentaries and interviews for KPBS Radio. She is an avid volunteer at many non-profit organizations, and is the founder of Voices of Women (VOW), an international forum for non-military solutions, to foster global peace, justice and equality around the world.
